Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one session, without having to switch between devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank, and wash their mopping pads with a dedicated dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer for its relatively affordable price, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual gets you up and running in no time with a full dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can is able to clean up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops spin at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly remove dirt, pet hair and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a variety of attachments and brushes, and an intuitive app that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You can, for example request the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom to itself. The only issue it has is that it can hit objects and walls at full speed - but an instant glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and the obstacles it's avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks are required, such as emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with the eufy's solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop are able to run for a long time as well, with the mop being capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is easy to use and intuitive that lets you see all the details of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model this one has an agitator that doubles in its mopping pad, which significantly enhances its carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pick up finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners may miss.
This Roborock model, like the other two models I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture, and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can alter its course automatically and clean around the objects, without missing a step.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is striking and only has three physical buttons which include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank self-empties and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only downside I've discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if necessary) but it's a challenge to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and could cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of smart features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these advanced features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hurdles to enable voice control on this model which is unfortunate considering the performance of this model.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with exceptional suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its intelligent design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robot vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which easily makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry mess. It has a mop of excellent quality that can clean hard floors without using a pad. The X40 is also very quiet in operation, with only occasional bursts during modes changes or self-maintenance.
Another noteworthy feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brushes, that allows it to reach hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean furniture such as table and chairs' legs. It can also get under furniture with low profile which makes it a great option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush automatically tilts down when detecting wet spots. This is a nice touch that helps the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by repeated back-andforth movements.
In contrast to other robots that are restricted to a single task, the X40 can mop and vacuum simultaneously. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.
The app is simple to use and understand, and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see floor plans and mapping and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and inform you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous convenient features, making it a perfect option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It will also tell you the moment when the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and alert you to the situation prior to it bursting.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive available however, it comes with many additional features that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles in addition to removing spills and wet spots.
The mop is cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is a great feature because it stops mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.
There are a lot of options, including the option to schedule cleanings and change preferences. The app lets you define these preferences, or use the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and offers a variety of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also comes with many features that aren't offered on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen in the market, with a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It is a little heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this list, but it's still not a lot of weight. It is solid and well-built. Mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop works well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature allows them to reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
